Primavera P6

Primavera P6 is the most powerful, robust, and easy to use solution for globally prioritizing, planning, managing and executing projects, programs and portfolios. P6 is an integrated project portfolio management (PPM) solution comprising role-specific functionality to satisfy each team member's needs, responsibilities and skills. It provides a single solution for managing projects of any size, adapts to various levels of complexities within a project, and intelligently scales to meet the needs of various roles, functions, or skill levels in your organization.

Primavera P6 (was P5, now P6 v7.0) is a Project Management Software package that is used for managing and controlling project related activities. Resources representing labor, materials and equipment are used to track time and costs for the project. Slippage of projects' activities are updated resulting in the adjustment of time related Gant Bars

Primavera was once mostly used to handle very large and complex projects, especially in the engineering and construction business (e.g. to construct or maintain nuclear power plants). Today (2010),Oracle set a solution that addresses the need of Project Portfolio Management

P6 provides executives with a real-time view of their organization's project, program and portfolio performance. It equips managers with the right blend of usability, power and flexibility to effectively and efficiently execute on projects, and enables individuals across all levels of an organization to analyze, record, and communicate reliable information and make timely, informed decisions.

P6 makes it easy to:
* Select the right strategic mix of projects
* Assure project, IT and corporate governance
* Enhance processes and methods
* Improve project team collaboration
* Measure progress toward objectives
* Complete more projects successfully and with the intended payback.

Download Pipe 2000

Pipe2000 setup

Pipe2000 is a seamlessly integrated suite of software which includes the engines KYPipe, Steam, Gas, Surge, and GoFlow. For thirty years, KYPipe has developed and provided support for pipe system hydraulic flow analysis software. The strength and flexibility of the Pipe2000 suite of engines has made KYPipe an industry leader and made their software the most widely used pipe system hydraulic flow analysis software in the world. The Pipe2000 suite of software utilizes a consistent, intuitive Graphical User Interface; allowing the user to transition easily and efficiently between engines.
This Pipe2008 package consists of 3 main items:

1- The Program Setup
2-Video tutorials
3-EPANET

Modeling With ETABS

Getting Started with ETABS/ Modeling in ETABS/ ETABS

ETABS allow the users to

  1. Create and modify computer models.
  2. Create structural elements (columns, slabs, shear-walls, beams).
  3. Create structural elements (columns, slabs, shear-walls, beams).
  4. Analyze multiple scenarios and conditions, such as,
  • Earthquake and wind loads,
  • Sequential loading of construction,
  • When the analysis is run, it goes from an object based to an element based model
  • The analysis consist of frames, joints, linked with shell elements.
  • Design and optimize multistory buildings (steel/composite, concrete frame and shear-walls.)
  • All these steps through a single graphic user interface (GUI).
Steps To Model a Building in ETABS

1. Define the building’s geometry (it’s footprint, including the adjacent
structures, establish the gridlines, etc…).

2. Consider the implications of the geographic location of the building.

3. Establish the codes, analysis procedures and design criteria to be applied
(for example, ASCE 7, UBC, IBC2000, Florida Building Code, ACI 318).

4. Define the loads (dead, live, reduction factors, wind and seismic).

5. Choose the structural elements, such as columns, shear-walls, etc.

6. Define the working units (for example, lb-in, kips-ft, etc.).

7. Define the various concrete strengths (eg, 4000 psi, 8000 psi, etc.).

8. Define the modulus of elasticity for concrete.

9. Define and create columns sizes and strengths for all different levels.

10. Define wall strengths and thickness.

11. Define steel strength and modulus of elasticity.

12. Place columns and shear-walls upon the gridlines.

Modeling a Building in ETABS

Note:
click the images to see it clear

Parameters
Columns:> 30" x 30 ''
Beams :> 24" x 24 " Shear Walls :> outer walls =84" inner walls=24" Transvers walls = 8"
Vertical Spacing b/w Coloumns = 25'
Horizontal Spacing b/w Columns = 30'

Define a New Model

A New Model Initialization window opens in which you will be asked to whether to initialize your new model with definitions and preferences with existing .edb file...
For instance click no in this problem

Define the ist Story

Choose "Grid Only"
Model of ist story properly, run analysis and check for any improperly connected nodes.

Alternatively use ETABS' Uniform grid spacing

or
Etabs custom grid spacing

Define Properties
  1. Material Properties
  2. Frame Sections
  3. Slab/Wall Sections
  4. Static Load Cases
  5. Load Combinations
1-Material Properties

Add New Material

Or
Define Material Properties
Suppose a Concrete of Fc'=4ksi

2-Frame Sections
Add New Rectangular Section

Place The Concrete Coloumn on the Grid

ADD BEAM

ADD WALL SECTIONS

ADD SLAB

Define The Load Cases

Load Combinations

DDL = Design Dead + Live Load
SDL = Service Dead + Live Load

Draw Coloumn,beams,shear walls......to be continued...
